Hi-Intelligent Minds

The Hildesheim Intelligent Mind Project — a DAAD-funded project of the Institute of Computer Science that brings talented international students to Hildesheim for machine-learning research and software engineering. Your Code. Your Community. Minds Beyond Borders.

The project

Hi-Intelligent Minds is funded by the DAAD programme “Academic Horizons – Attracting Global Minds”, with support from the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space, and run jointly by the ISMLL and SSE research groups. Its goal is to attract outstanding international students to Hildesheim early — and to give them a real path from a first research experience into our English-taught, tuition-free master's programmes.

What we do

  • The annual Summer School on Machine Learning and AI Engineering — a two-week research immersion for advanced international Bachelor's students, next held July 19–30, 2027 (application deadline: January 31, 2027).
  • DAAD funding (travel, accommodation, meals) for ~20–25 students, exclusively for students from the project's partner universities in South America and Eastern Europe (the Balkans / South-East Europe).
  • A direct on-ramp to the institute's international master's programmes in Data Analytics and Software Engineering.

With funding from

Bundesministerium für Forschung, Technologie und Raumfahrt — Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space DAAD — Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst / German Academic Exchange Service

Our approach

The project follows students through three stages — recruiting, onboarding and career.

Recruiting
  • AI Summer School — our flagship Summer School, with guest lecturers from partner universities
  • Global AI Outreach — faculty visit partner universities in Latin America and Eastern Europe as "Academic Ambassadors"
  • Fair Game — participation in international academic fairs (e.g. Gate Germany)
Onboarding
  • Digital Prep-Hub — bridge video courses (maths/ML/CS basics) so a visa delay doesn't cost a semester
  • Local Support-Hub — a 24/7 AI chatbot, plus human support and German-language courses
  • Revision Team — ongoing surveys and a semesterly quality circle to keep improving the programme
Career
  • Industry Immersion Track — industry lectures, company visits and an annual OUTPUT fair with regional employers
  • Research & Innovation Accelerator — conference travel grants and entrepreneurship workshops for top graduates
